When the NSX brake pedal is pressed aggressively, the firewall and brake booster sheet metal deflects from the force being applied. This deflection results in an ambiguous "spring-like" feel from the brake pedal, especially at the further range of the pedal. This feeling can reduce confidence and feedback from the brakes at the limit as some of the force being applied flexes the sheet metal rather than being transferred into the brake system.
The CAD-optimized and 4-axis machined aluminum brace reduces the movement of the master cylinder by more than 50% by supporting the master cylinder as the pedal is depressed while still allowing a slight amount of movement for compliance. The brace attaches to the chassis using two heavy-duty factory 12mm bolts. The result is an improved brake feel, giving the driver confidence at the braking limit.
Installation requires no modifications to the chassis and is fully reversible. The included brace, support foot, and pivot bolt are machined from billet 6061 aluminum and 304 stainless steel for reduced weight and corrosion resistance. The pivot foot and bolt snap together, and the entire kit can be installed in around 15 minutes.
Note: this part is designed for 1991-99 Left Hand Drive NSX (Americas and European market vehicles) with the original ABS modulator. A design for 2000-05 NSX (and earlier NSX with updated ABS modulators) will be available later this year.
