Engine Maintenance Service & Seal Kits - NSX, 1991-05

ScienceofSpeed prides itself on helping so many enthusiasts keep their NSX on the road, safely and reliably. As part of that, there is maintenance. All parts in these service kits are Original Honda/Acura parts unless noted otherwise.

The service kits are organized this way:

• 90,000 mile / 6 year (water pump & timing belt) major service kit
• Camshaft plug & seal kit (commonly performed as part of the 90,000 mile / 6 year major service)
• VTEC seal kit (commonly performed as part of the 90,000 mile / 6 year major service)
• Valve cover seal kit
• Oil pan & dipstick tube seal kit
• cylinder head seal kit (1991-94, 1995-99, or 2000-05)
• cylinder block seal kit (1991-05)

90,000 mile / 6 year (water pump & timing belt) major service kit

This is a major service kit, with everything you will need to perform a timing belt and water pump service on your NSX. It includes all of the parts normally required to perform the timing belt and water pump installation and other items included in this service. NOTE: If your timing cover has already been updated on your 1991-96, you can select the 1997-05 kit. This kit includes:

• Timing Belt
• Water pump 
• Valve cover gaskets
• Tube seals
• Washers, head cover
• Oil filter
• Air filter
• Alternator and A/C belts
• Lower Timing Belt Cover (optional)

Note: 1991-96 NSX used a water pump with a short weep nipple that would result in coolant leaking on to the timing belt. This was updated in 1997 to include a longer nipple that exits the cover and directs coolant outside the timing belt cavity. Many 1991-96 have received updated pumps and covers. Valve Cover Seal Kit

This is a valve cover gasket seal kit. Included in the major service kit. These seals can start to seep oil, then leak it all over the engine, resulting in stains, drips on the ground, and smoking out of the engine bay, along with the burning oil smell.  This kit includes:

• Valve cover gaskets
• Tube seals
• Washers, head cover

VTEC Seal Kit

The VTEC spool valves are another common place to leak, and leave stains on the engine, as well as the garage.  This kit reseals the VTEC solenoid, oil pressure switches, as well as the oil pressure sensor.  This kit comes in 2 different year ranges, so be sure to select the proper set for your year range:

• Filter Assys, Spool valve
• Filter Assys, Solenoid base
• Oil pressure switch o-rings
• Oil pressure sensor o-ring

Oil Pan

This kit includes:

• Oil pan gasket

Cam Seal Kit

The cam seals are among the most common of leaking spots for oil.  This kit will help reseal both sides of each camshaft, as well as replace the o-ring in the valvetrain that will be serviced during the cam seal repair. This kit includes:

• Cam Plugs
• Cam Seals, Oil seal
• Oil Control orifice, o-rings

Cylinder Head Seal Kit

This is a complete seal kit for the cylinder heads, required when the cylinder heads are removed for an engine rebuild or cylinder head gasket replacement. Select the correct year range for your NSX. Note: this kit does not include the cylinder head gasket set, as it can vary based on the application. Please click here to purchase the cylinder head gasket set. Note: the factory head bolts should be replaced when the cylinder head is removed. An alternate to the factory bolts is this stud kit. This kit includes:

Cylinder Block Seal Kit

This is a complete seal kit for the cylinder heads, required when the cylinder heads are removed for an engine rebuild or cylinder head gasket replacement. This kit includes:

• Gasket, Oil pan
• Oil control orifice o-ring
• Rear main oil seal
• 35mm sealing cap oil ring
• Oil control orifice o-ring
• Gasket, Bearing cap bridge
• Dip stick o-ring
